Developing inclusive and creative economies
In November 2018, our Associate, Catherine Rogers, travelled to Santos in Brazil on a research and scoping visit representing Advantage Creative and Junction Arts on the British Council’s Developing Inclusive and Creative Economies (DICE) programme.
The focus of the DICE programme is on developing partnerships and developing interventions to strengthen creative and social enterprises in 5 different countries: Egypt, South Africa, Indonesia, Pakistan and Brazil.
Advantage Creative and Junction Arts aim to bring together their diverse experiences and work to create a new programme of support for creative entrepreneurs who experience marginalisation – described in more detail in my blog “Crisis – Place & People”.
Whilst in Brazil, Catherine found an amazing organization for us to partner with, Instituto Procoumum, and we designed with them a project that aims to support up to 25 black and ethnic minority women in starting up their own creative enterprise.
Since this time, our 15-month DICE partnership project has included professional development exchanges between countries, exploring new and more inclusive approaches to enterprise development through an approach we call “the commons.”
For further information about this project, see our project vlog here.
